The things worth asking before you pay
Straight answers on what this is, what happens after you buy, and where the limits are.
Is this a real travel agency — will you book my flights and hotels?
No. Fieldnote Society is an independent travel advisory service: I plan the trip, and you make every booking yourself, in your own name. I take no payments and hold no reservations on your behalf. That’s deliberate — no commissions, no sponsored stays, no "partner" hotels, so every recommendation is there because it’s right for your trip, not because it pays me.
What happens right after payment?
A short intake follows: a roughly ten-minute form, then an intake call — up to an hour for Waymarked, 30–45 minutes for Uncharted. After the call, either of us can decide it isn’t a fit — that means a full refund; almost no work has been done at that point.
Can I cancel before that?
Yes. Any time up to and including the intake call, full refund.
How long until I get my itinerary?
From acceptance: 2–3 business days for Weekenders, 3–4 for Thru-Trails, 3–5 for Horizons. For Uncharted, 3–4 days for Basecamp up to 12–20 days for a full Expedition, scoped individually once the brief is known. These are current planning ranges, not contractual guarantees.
What counts as my included revision?
Adjusting existing days or activities within the same route or brief — swapping a day, changing pace, tweaking accommodation. Swapping destinations, adding a new region, or extending trip length is new work, billable as an Extra Revision.
What if I am still not happy after that revision?
Both Waymarked and Uncharted include one revision call after your draft. Beyond that — a paid Extra Consultancy call for anything after your final PDF is delivered, or a paid Extra Revision for genuinely new work.
How many people can come?
Up to four travelers per booking. Uncharted adds a per-extra-traveler surcharge of €25 to €85 depending on tier; Waymarked does not.

Do you guarantee visas, permits, or safety on technical terrain?
This is an independent travel advisory service. Visa approval, permit issuance, and trip safety are not guaranteed. Clients are responsible for their own bookings, travel insurance, permits, and safety judgment on technical or high-altitude terrain.
Working wording only — it still needs a lawyer and a proper terms-of-service pass before it means anything binding.
